Mine Equipment Trainer

BW Gold is a wholly owned subsidiary of Artemis Gold Inc (“Artemis”). Artemis is listed on the TSX Venture exchange, and is a well-financed, growth-oriented gold development company with strong financials aimed at creating shareholder value through the identification, acquisition, and development of gold properties in mining friendly jurisdictions. Our current focus is construction of the Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver.

Blackwater Mine received its BC Mines Act permit in March, 2023, its environmental assessment approvals in 2019, and will begin major works construction in Q1, 2023.

Position Overview: Reporting to the Training Superintendent, the Mine Equipment Trainer is responsible for providing on the job equipment training for various construction equipment as well as training on company standards, policies and procedures.

Location: Blackwater Mine site. The Blackwater Project is 160km Southwest of Prince George, BC.

Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On – Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
  • Assists with the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and verification of competencies (VOCs) related to operating equipment.
  • Provides in the field and classroom training to new and existing operators to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.
  • Maintains site training records including up to date list of individual qualifications.
  • Establishes training programs and development plans for construction equipment.
  • Provides hands-on mentoring for operators.
  • Supports the implementation of a full training program and management system.
  • Assists with the development of training aids such as manuals and handbooks.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years experience operating variety of construction and mining equipment including: haul truck, dozer, grader, excavator, shovel
  • Train the trainer certification considered an asset
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Experience in training and mentoring operators
  • Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation
  • Comfortable working and living in close quarters with the team
  • Ability to maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shift
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
  • Can work productively without supervision
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Adaptable and self-motivated
  • Organized and has attention to detail
  • Have cultural awareness and sensitivity skills
