Environmental Coordinator

BW Gold is a wholly owned subsidiary of Artemis Gold Inc (“Artemis”). Artemis is listed on the TSX Venture exchange, and is a well-financed, growth-oriented gold development company with strong financials aimed at creating shareholder value through the identification, acquisition, and development of gold properties in mining friendly jurisdictions. Our current focus is construction of the Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver.

Blackwater Mine received its BC Mines Act permit in March, 2023, its environmental assessment approvals in 2019, and will begin major works construction in Q1, 2023.

Position Overview

We are looking for an Environmental Coordinator to join our Blackwater team. This position will report to the Environmental Superintendent and provide support to the environmental team and the site in various activities.

Location: Blackwater Mine site. The Blackwater Project is 160km Southwest of Prince George, BC.

Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On – Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Scope of Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, manage, and coordinate consultants and contractors’ activity on-site.
  • Assist with the preparation of scopes of work, requests for proposals, and invoice review for field programs on-site.
  • Communicate with external consultants and labs to ensure samples are analyzed on time.
  • Help to maintain the environmental inspection database including tracking inspection action items raised and following up with the Environmental Manager, Environmental Superintendent and others as required on upcoming and overdue action items.
  • Act as a field team member as needed to support collecting samples and monitoring data outlined by environmental permits, regulations, and systems.
  • Mentoring and training environmental team members in execution of field activities.
  • Perform tasks set out in various Management Plans, such as providing new hire orientations, attending toolbox meetings to present awareness topics and completing inspections of work sites to identify potential impacts.
  • Support the development of and assist in writing activity and monitoring reports for compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
  • Familiarity with relevant BC and federal legislation and regulations (e.g., Environmental management Act, Mines Act, HSRC, Fisheries Act).

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or a related Natural Resources Management field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience, preferably in a mining environment with experience with monitoring and compliance programs, environmental monitoring databases, software and compliance programs.
  • Experience working in the field for long hours in adverse weather conditions.
  • Strong technical writing and organizational skills.
  • Current registration or eligible for registration in a professional discipline (e.g. EP, P.Ag, R.P.Bio.).
