Project Engineer, Water Management Structures - January 25, 2022
BW Gold Ltd. is a subsidiary of Artemis Gold Inc., listed on the TSX Venture exchange, a well-financed, growth-oriented gold development company aimed at creating shareholder value through the identification, acquisition, and development of gold properties in mining friendly jurisdictions. Our current focus is the recently acquired Blackwater Gold Project in central British Columbia approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver.

You will have the ability to make a significant contribution to the onsite project team as the Company pursues the disciplined development of the Blackwater Project. Blackwater is an advanced-stage development project which received its environmental assessment approvals in 2019 and is proceeding towards permitting, with the goal of commencing construction in 2022. The Company published a Feasibility Study in September 2021 which reflects a 22-year mine life, a low strip ratio of 2:1 and a net present value of C$2.15B at a long-term consensus gold price of US$1,600/oz.
The role is based at the Blackwater Project site, however some travel to the company’s other office locations will be required. The Blackwater Project is 165 km Southwest of Prince George, BC.
This position will be on a 2 weeks on 2 weeks off rotation.
The Project Engineer, Water Management Structures, will report to the Project Manager and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of the Water Management Structures and selected infrastructure projects at the Blackwater Project.
Scope of Responsibilities
- Ensure all site activities are conducted in a manner that prioritizes safety, the environment and community and industrial relations.
- Demonstrate courageous leadership by promoting a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with BW Gold’s Health, Safety and Environmental Programs and the BC Mines Act.
- Ensure overall schedules, budgets and target deliverables are achieved to a consistently high standard. Report and respond immediately to change to ensure projects are completed on time and budget.
- Ensure work quality is of a high standard and in accordance with the project contract, drawings, specifications, specific plans and statutory and industry standards.
- Manage cost and schedule against the baselines and provide regular updates on the project status.
- Track installed quantities, cycle times and load factors for earthworks.
- Initiate, maintain and ensure safe keeping of accurate records of daily progress and events including regular photographic records.
- Attend weekly contractor meetings and ensure minutes are taken and issued as appropriate.
- Approve contractor’s progress claims against contracts, including any authorized extra works.
- Oversee hourly workers and supervise on-site contractors during construction.
- Weekly and Monthly reporting.
- Ensure weekly safety audits occur with published findings.
- Ensure requests for information (RFIs) from contractors are responded to in a timely fashion.
- Review detailed design drawings produced by engineering firms prior to being issued for construction.
- Develop requests for proposal for purchasing materials, services and construction contracts.
- Collaborate with engineering and supply chain to develop the project specific procurement plan.
- Produce engineering and construction work packages.
- Work in a team environment and share skills/experience with other members of the team.
Qualifications:
- Civil or Mining Engineering degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Professional Engineer or eligible for membership as a Professional Engineer in BC.
- 3-5 years of Project Management/Execution experience; Operational experience with mining/heavy industrial work would be considered an asset
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D would be considered an asset
- Acquainted with permitting and community relations practices and standards
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to be flexible and manage a variety of assignments and situations simultaneously
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and flexible team player
- Must have a valid driver’s license
