National Day of Mourning
April 26, 2024
At Artemis Gold and Blackwater Mine, safety is our top priority.
Every year, on April 28, workers, families, employers, and others come together at National Day of Mourning events held around the province to remember those who have lost their lives on the job, and to renew our commitment to creating safer workplaces.
In 2023, 175 B.C. workers died from a workplace injury or disease. There were 82 fatalities due to traumatic injury and 93 fatalities due to occupational disease. We remember workers who have died, were injured, or became ill from their job and commit to protecting workers and preventing further workplace tragedies.
On April 28th we will observe a moment of silence to honour and remember those who have died, were injured, or became ill from their job, and we will renew our commitment to health and safety in the workplace.
